Clean Water Alabama to host “Fish Fry and Fun” event Saturday, April 26, 2025

Clean Water Alabama is described as “a nonprofit organization dedicated to the stewardship of Alabama’s streams, rivers, and Mobile Bay. ”

According to John Woods, spokesperson for Clean Water Alabama’s upcoming Fish Fry and Fun event, “[This] event promises great food and local entertainment — all while raising funds to support the stewardship of more than 132,000 miles of rivers and streams in Alabama.”

Retired State Representative Joe Faust is credited with initiating the event as a “long-time advocate and pioneer in preserving Alabama’s waterways.”

Fish Fry and Fun will be held at the Coastal Alabama Community College amphitheater in Fairhope.

According to Clean Water Alabama’s press release:

“For just $10 per plate, guests can enjoy a classic Southern meal featuring crispy fried fish, golden hush puppies, Guthrie’s cole slaw, mouth-watering baked beans, and the choice of a Coke or bottled water.”

“Plates will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. or until supplies last.”

“Proceeds from Fish Fry and Fun go directly to Clean Water Alabama’s outreach and education initiatives, including the development and distribution of locally-created coloring books designed to teach third through fifth graders in Baldwin County Public Schools about the importance of protecting local waterways.”

Local schools and faith-based organizations are planning to participate as well.

“This is a fun, family-friendly event – bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and spend the day with us,” said Woods.
