The Phantom A.D.

A uniquely live (or back from the grave?) musical performance

Johnny Mac’s / 505 Fairhope Ave.

Presented by Dr. Music Records

Q. How do we try to explain this to the good people of Fairhope, Alabama?

A. Let’s try this:

Inspired as a California Kindergartner by the fun drummy rhythm of surfer rock music, combined with the cackling witch-like laugh at the intro of the early 1960’s “Wipe Out” hit originally by the Surfaris, little Harley Isaac Rother was destined to bring something special to the world.

Maybe it’s like if Elvis Presley had a meeting with The Rocky Horror Picture Show… ? In any case, get ready for a hoot and a half, and turn up the volume:

According to the Phantom A.D. About page, regarding the childhood revelation of front man Issac Rother:

“Around this time I also became obsessed with the TV show The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. In addition to Scooby and the gang, it also starred horror icon Vincent Price! My fate was sealed as Rock N’ Roll Horror kid.”

“I started The Phantom A.D. to create the Rock N’ Roll party that I’ve known should exist my whole life but have seldom been able to find.”

With song titles like these, The Phantom A.D. seems to have liberated Halloween into a year-round rock party that is taking them to international venues:

The Brain that Wouldn’t Die

Ghost Party

Ric Flair Rock

Bad Girls Only

Like A Wolfman

For those who would like to see what it looks like to visit and rock out with their “Phans” in Japan, here’s a 10 minute video documentary that’s a fun dive into another dimension.

Caution: There is an un-bleeped “F” word about four minutes into the video so this isn’t entirely family-friendly, but otherwise it seems fairly clean and actually downright really interesting.

Who knew about Hirao Masaaki, the “Japanese Elvis” of the 1950’s, sink-toilet combos and entire stores devoted to gumball-machine-toy shopping?? Wow. Thanks, Phantom A.D.!

“Originally known as Isaac Rother & The Phantoms, the band has undergone an evolution, reemerging as The Phantom A.D. to reflect a new chapter in their macabre musical journey. While the name has changed, the ghoulish energy and commitment to their hauntingly good sound remain stronger than ever.”

“Their brand-new album, The Phantom A.D. Plays Rock N’ Roll, is a thrilling testament to their signature style, offering phans a spine-tingling ride through their most dynamic and monstrous tracks yet. With this new release, The Phantom A.D. invites you to join their ever-growing legion of phans and experience the next chapter in Ghoulish Rock N’ Roll history!”

“My mission: To unleash the wild, raw energy of early Rock N’ Roll with the frenzied, forbidden, fun of old horror movies. If you share my passion for strange tales, high energy music, and creating the best times ever, consider this your exclusive invitation to join the party!”

Isaac Rother

Let’s Go! Fairhope concludes:

Combining kitschy, dramatic elements of vintage B-horror movie soundtracks, with rockabilly, garage rock, and a unique flair not named or duplicated elsewhere, this band is digging into summer in big cities across the country with energetic performances that Zombies would die for… Er, live?

Don’t find yourself screaming after missing the opportunity to catch this band, alive or dead, at Johnny Mac’s in downtown Fairhope, between the Fairhope Public Library and the post office on June 12.
