The Jacob Hall Memorial Music Grant identifies musicians or aspiring musicians that have a specific musical need.
Examples of potentially qualifying needs include money for instruments, equipment, music lessons, attending music camps or recitals, tuition for music majors, music books, etc.
Live at Five is a concert series set in the heart of downtown Fairhope, Alabama in the natural surroundings of the Halstead Amphitheater.
Each Spring and Fall, Friends of the Halstead 501(c)(3), through the Live at Five Concert Series, bring national and regional bands and singer/songwriters spanning a wide range of musical genres: rock, jazz, country, Americana, soul, funk, and more. Friends of the Halstead 501(c)(3) ultimately returns proceeds to the community with music-based grant support through the Jacob Hall Music Grant program.
Friends of the Halstead 501(c)(3) will choose a number of applicants from those submitted to participate in an interview process. Recipients are chosen from this group.
Grant recipients will be announced prior to the last event performance of the Live at Five season.
Recipients will receive a check made payable to the third-party vendor cited in the applicant’s need request.
Application Requirements:
- Open to musicians age 16+ residing in the greater Mobile area
- A complete application is required. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
- Description of the musical need, why it is needed, and supporting documentation for the amount of the need. Example: If a musician is seeking grant money to repair a guitar, an invoice from a third-party vendor detailing the price of the repair is required to support the amount being requested.
- At least two references willing to attest to the character and need of the applicant.
- Essay: Tell us about yourself. Explain your grant request and why you feel you should be considered. Include the amount of funding you are requesting and exactly how the grant money will be used. 250 Word Max.
- Grants are limited to no more than $2,000 per issuance.
- Recipients may only receive funds once every 24 months.
